Furniture Model

Design History II

While my designs tend to lean into fantasy, there is an adage in the creative realm: there is nothing that has not been done before. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my Design History courses, where we were required to design furniture pieces, sconces, and wallpaper, taking reference from different time periods and design trends.

I specifically loved the wide variety of revivals that gained popularity throughout the 1600s-1900s, from Greek to Gothic. Feeling particularly inspired by the Victorian Rococo revival mixed with the whimsy of the Art Deco period, I designed this vanity table and modeled it with various materials at a small scale.

It was a challenge to communicate my design at 4 inches tall instead of 4 feet, but I was honored to be selected by my professor to represent the best work of the class in the CIDA portfolio.
